"Angus and his team undertook the work to build an extension to our house late in 2022/early 2023.
We met with him beforehand to discuss what we wanted to do, and from the very start it was clear how competent and knowledgeable Angus was. Angus provided a quote very quickly and it was clear which parts were fixed costs, and where there might be variability due to material costs etc.
From the start of the works, it was important to Angus to develop good relationships with our neighbours on either side [and also further down the road, due to the need for skip and parking] and he really couldn’t have done more to put our neighbours at ease. He and his various builders/contractors were very respectful throughout the process both to us, and to the neighbours - much appreciated.
He was always around from the start of every morning to the end of the day, and he or someone in his team took care of any deliveries/site visits/issues that arose so we could continue our lives as normal [we had moved out by this point], which was a huge weight off our minds. Communication was great throughout with progress and letting us know what decisions we needed to make, and by when. Angus also communicated with the kitchen fitters, to make that process as smooth as possible, which was much appreciated.
Every single thing we discussed in terms of what we wanted doing with the building works, Angus's attitude was always "well we can always make ANYTHING work", and he would always discuss the different options we had, giving us the pros and cons from his wealth of experience on building sites in terms of what might work best, without ever trying to 'lead us' to a conclusion that would have suited them rather than us; and we really appreciated that. He was very flexible indeed, and obviously has excellent relationships with his suppliers as there was never any risk of running out of material, despite general shortages across the country at the time he was undertaking the works for us
Angus would always encourage us to visit as often as we could to discuss progress and things that needed decisions, as it was much easier to do this in person, and he would always introduce us to everyone working with him and every single person who worked on the building was very polite and well mannered
All in all, I would unconditionally recommend Angus; we trusted him completely, his word was his bond, his work ethic was incredible [I think he had about 3 days off in the 4 or 5 months he was working on the project] and his flexible mindset made sure that his initial estimate of the time it would likely take was pretty much exactly right. He also had a great pride in his work, going above and beyond what we expected!"
